Default 96 olds lss wont shift into park

ive had this car for a little while and let my friend borrow it one day and ever since it has a hard time going into park . today i put a new front hub on it and while the engine wasnt running it was going into park like it was new . sometimes it goes into park no problem but rarely here are some symptons its doing .
1 it makes a funny clicking noise when reversing but when u put it into neutral and coast it makes no noise while reversing .
2 sometimes you have to put it into neutral and back and forth in the gears to get it to go into park .
3 strange thing i put new hub on it and the ABS and traction light went off but after driving a while the lights came back on ?? Hmmm and brake pedal is spungy.
4 sometimes it takes 5 to 10 tries to get it to go into park while going threw all the gears and pumping the pedal dont know if that has anything to do with it any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated .

love the site and i'm an old piston head from the late 70'* and early 80'*

Try disconnecting the shift cable at the trans and see if you can move the lever through all the ranges. If you still have issues, your problem is inside. While the cable is disconnected, see if the shifter will shift though all the ranges.

One common problem with these transmission is the park rod comes apart.
