Default 91 Olds Regency code 42 then code 41

A little info here.... I have a '91 Olds Regency Elite 3800..... I was getting a code 42 and discovered a had several frayed and broken wires on the electrical connection to the ECM..... I replaced the ECM connector and spliced all the wires one at a time...... after I was done I started getting a code 41 (CAM sensor) that was not showing when I got the code 42........ Now I'm wondering if I have a wire issue..... OR a magnet issue on the Cam gear off and it'* just a coincidence? What do I need to check now.... I know I could take cam sensor off and check...... but I'm wondering since I just spliced all the wires.... hmm? Was one not connected completely..... which one do I check........

I'd trace the cam sensor wires back from the sensor to the PCM and see if you can find anything.

I have continuity on the 3 wires....2 to the ECM and the middle one to the crank sensor..... I used a camera to see the cam interrupter magnet and it is there on the cam gear and not broken off...... I even got a brand new cam sensor and put it on to little avail......... now what?

Hmmm . . . possibly the ECM then. I'll ponder this one for a while. Maybe somebody will chime in with another idea.

A thought: Is the battery in good shape and alternator charging well? Low voltage would cause weirdness.

The battery is brand new just a couple of weeks ago, and the alternator was changed about a year ago.

What caused the frayed wires? . . . and how many were frayed?

Do you have a list of which wires were damaged?
