Excellent point! Yes indeed, I did do this, using the instructions in the owner'* manual, and it looked fine to me. The car has just over 100,000 miles.

100,000 miles shouldn't be a big deal unless they were all stop and go driving or it was beaten or something.
Where was the oil level on the dipstick after pulling, wiping it off, then inserting and pulling again?
