Default 9004 Headlight Bulb

The Left Lo-Beam Bulb burnt out on Saturday night when I was a long way from home. My Olds uses the 9004 Bulb for BOTH the Lo and Hi Beams. Figuring I don't need the Left Hi Beam that much I swapped the Left Hi Bulb with the Left Lo Bulb. The good news was that I now had Both Lo Beams in operation. The better news was that I STILL had Both Hi Beams working as well. I know the 9004 is a dual filament bulb. Is one filament dedicated to the Lo Beam and the other the Hi beam or does the Hi Beam use Both filaments? Thanks again for your expertise.

GM uses a 9005/9006 combo though! 9006 are the Low Beams, 9005 are the High beams!

Sounds like someone put the wrong bulbs in at one time.

Sorry Guys. Remember I'm talking Oldsmobile here(and you wonder why they're going out of business). The correct bulbs for my 88 Royale are indeed the 9004 bulbs. Even Sylvania concurs. http://www.sylvania.com/bin/carApp/c...+88&x=26&y=6#1
In any case, it'* probably a sign that I should replace the bulbs as soon as the snow melts. The Silverstar'* look like the way to go for me.

How much are you guys paying for silverstar'*?
I saw them for the first time at Wal Mart and they want $96 for 29006'* and 2 9005'*.
In other words they want $48 per pair -I think that'* almost insane and I'd rather spend $300 on a set of true HID'* for my low beams.
I just thought they were about $30 a pair, but paying $100+ after taxes for them kinda blow'* my mind!

Stylez

dont buy silver stars if you want the white blue look buy some xenon-whites cuz i got a pair of 9006 for only $25 but you will have to shop around for them cuz they dont sell them at walmart or mabe you could look online just make sure you get the right wattage and everything. my friend got silverstars and they cost him so much but i got xenon-white bulbs and you can definately tell that xenon-white has a much darker tint of blue on them but look more white than the silverstars which look more yellow and costs more. pay less for white or pay more for yellowish you decide now dont get me wrong silverstar is good but i think they are way overpriced for what they are.
