Angry 231 V6 Cutlass Timimg HELP PLEASE

just rebuilt the motor from heads up and trying to set timing. we set at 0 and at tdc line the rotor up with #1 cylinder and put firing order on cap 165432 and will start but runs rough and sounds like its not running on all cylinders. what am i missing any help is app. 1883 cutlass V6 231

What happens when you adjust the timing. Does it get any better?

No it will ether stall or just seem like it’* missing.

Also new plugs wires spark plugs cap rotor coil. New gas with new gas tank. No vac advance and have the 4 pin plug unplugged

If the timing is correct you may need a distributor.

the coil for a v6 oldsmobile will be different than a v6 chevy, buick. pontiac and oldsmobile(I think) rotate opposite buick and chevy(correct me if im wrong) did you use a diferent coil by chance

Module is distinct too then

i would say your firing order is off based on the behavior

Update got the problem fixed. The ICM was bad put a new 11.00 part in and fired right up. Now time to finish this project.

This is a Buick 231 that was installed in ravenwpg'* Cutlass. Same as would have been installed in a Regal etc. back when GM started cross-pollenating engines across brands on common platforms (except Chevrolet most of the time back then).

I've read about reverse-rotating Buick V-6 engines of long ago, used in dual-engine boat applications. What I've read about was on Buick 225 V-6 engines, which are about the same as (post-Kaiser/Jeep/AMC) Buick 231, just with a slightly narrower bore. I've never seen one in person though.
