I was checking things out under the hood of my car, and was looking at the heater hoses. I noted that they went from the engine, and went in behind the RH strut tower. Curious as where access to the hose clamps at the heater core end are, in the event I needed to replace the hoses. The clamps on the engine side, are easy to get to.

I did search Google, but as usual I get everything but what I am actually searching for.

No, but would like to know how to access the heater core end of the hoses IF I ever had to replace them. As of now they look to be in decent shape, and I can barely make out GM part numbers on them.

So no problems. That'* good. I have the factory service literature for that. Seems to me they just went right around and into the box. I think you need to pull the box.

Well Mitchell don't have the procedure for the heater core.At least I didn't find it. The box I believe can be removed from under the hood. Look for little screws around the housing.

You need remote hose clamp pliers like this:



No other way to do this that I know of. Once they're off I guess you could replace with screw-type clamps, but that would be a pain too. When I did hoses on my 1997 LeSabre (same platform/engine/hoses/Maxifuse box as your 1999 8 this worked like a dream . . . especially after trying all kinds of contortions to get to them. I just put the same factory spring clamps back on everything when I was done. That was ~95,000 miles ago. It has ~251,000 on it now.
