Question 1995 Olds 88 Wont Start

The problem I am having is the engine will turn over but will not fire. Then all of a sudden, it will crank. I bypassed the VATS already and have been told I needed to bypass the BCM (Body Control Module) for the factory alarm system. I do not have the factory key fob to do this and need to just shut down all security systems on this vehile. I have done all I can do, short of TNT !!

Let'* verify the dilemma here. The engine turns over, but will not fire and run on its own correct?

Can you hear the fuel pump turn on and prime for 2 seconds when you turn the key on?

It will run but only every so often. I can drive it then shut it off. Then later get in it to go somewhere and it wont start. Ive been told the BCM needs replaced or bypassed. Seeing as how Ive already bypassed the VATS.

I still need to know if you can hear the fuel pump turn on when you experience the no start condition.

Yes, the fuel pump sounds off and I can hear it run. Then the car will actually start and run for about 2 seconds and automatically shut off. I was told in alot of my research today that the BCM needs replaced or the TDM needs to be bypassed to completely end the VATS Passkey System Nightmare. Anything helpful will be accepted. Instructions on a full bypass would be HEAVEN !!

If I remember correctly, the 95 VATS system only diables the start system. Once its running, it shouldn't shut it off. And, your VATS should only disable the starter. Newer ones (depending on the year) disable the injectors or the fuel pump.

Just to eliminate a common issue and I'm not sure if it applies to your Olds, but, have a read here...

starting and stalling is the newer ones, not yours, plus the security light would be blinking. after you check the buss, i would put a pressure gauge on it and see if its got enough pressure and it stays there for a little while, even though you can hear the pump it can still be bad or the pump connector can be bad not allowing enough power to the pump
