Sometimes it stinks being an engineer, when problems develop we always think the most complicated issue is at fault.

For example when my wipers stopped working and I could move them freely by hand I started thinking it was the cross arm or stripped threads or bad motor, it never dawned on me that perhaps the guy who put my new windshield in simply didn't tighten the nuts on the darn center posts of the wiper mounts.

I spent an hour in the garage last night trying to figure out how to get the plastic cowling off before I realized what was wrong.

Stop laughing, I'm an engineer not a mechanic dam it. :?

It is easy to overlook simple things.
We expect the worst, the not best when things go wrong.

Reminds me of work the other night, the lady I was relieving was saying the radio did not work. After about 1 second of troubleshooting, I determined the thing was not turned on.
Another crisis at work fixed

My dads truck messed up one time. It was skipping really bad. We took it to all kinds of shops and evrything to try and figure out what was wrong with it. I was out fiddling with it one morning, and came to the conclusion that a plug wire was on right. Ran fine for a while, until it really did get messed up.

And then you have me: in school to be the Mechanical Engineering Technologist.

Last week I couldn't spell "enginer", now I are one !

Lessons learned best through experience. When I was in school, I took off in January to see my sweetie who was in school 150 miles away. About 5 miles out of town, my old '49 Plymouth started to overheat. I couldn't figure what would cause the engine to overheat when the outside temperature was 20*F, except a stuck thermostat. I hitch-hiked back to town, borrowed a set of tools, and bummed a ride back to the Plymouth along the roadside. Undid the thermostat housing and guess what?......No thermostat in the hole! THEN, I looked in the radiator. Yep, you guessed it...no coolant. Radiator had a little leak that dripped out the coolant under pressure over a period of about a month.

That little episode taught me better than any book to always look for the simple, cheap and easy stuff first. Most of the time, it is easy stuff that is causing the problem.

I'm still doing a dope slap on that one!

its true I'm sticking with engineering but I know people who switched cause they couldnt take it lol

At my university I was in the College of Engineering and Technology. If you couldn't make it in engineering, you would leave the engineering department and go get a technology degree! Or as you mentioned, you would go get a business degree!
