They don't hold enough because of how you filled out your W-4 when you were hired. If you put too many exemptions, then you'll be owing them instead of breaking even or getting paid.

Since I have a wife and kid, and she doesn't work, I always get paid. It'* also nice that about half of my income isn't taxable.

It'* soooo awesome. I make over $45k a year with my base pay, BAH, and BAS. But come tax time they only see that I make about $25k or so. Then they see I support a family, so they just give me a ton of money.

I claim 0 exemptions. The lowest you can claim. I even redid a W-4 last year after I owed $48 to make sure I was claiming 0.

did you write off your gas oil changes and such that helps out as it is an expense to go to and from work

didn't know you could do that. I use a 1040EZ, guess I could switch to the long form. One question though: Am I allowed to claim deductions even though I'm still legally dependent on my parents?
