the structure of that engine picker scares me... why not have the belt on a pulley with the winch mounted on the side... would take about half of the lifting strength?

Dunno, but it worked fine with no problems. That top 4X4 held both of them and my 200 lbs at once. BTW, everything is back together and running fine now.
