As some of you know, I'm in need of a trans rebuild soon. But I found something this morning....

http://rochester.craigslist.org/cto/2028859097.html

Too good to be true?

I have my car right where I want it. It'* solid. Good engine. I know all of the little quirks of the car. Many of you said I should stick with it and rebuild. This one just had it'* trans done. Should I go for it or shut my eyes and look away?

That will have the 4T60 transmission in it. Not that it really makes a large difference being that it'* rebuilt. Your car has the 4T65E in it. The difference is mostly that the 60 is vacuum controlled for shifting pressure and the 65 is electronically controlled.

Good point. I didn't think of that. Would that make the 4T65E cost more to rebuild at all? I know a guy who can get me a deal (sub $1000) for a rebuild either way.

125k miles and only $900? Something else is wrong that the owner is not disclosing in the listing.

65 should cost about the same to rebuild as a 60. They both have their costs and most of the cost is the labor.

On the price... that'* in reasonable line with trying to move a car fast. I get a lot of hits on Craigsnotify for cars under $1000 that are in about that same shape etc.

I got my first '95 Bonnie for $520 at an auction. Got in a wreck, then found my '98 for $950 and they drove it to my front door. It was listed for $850 but I gave them an extra hundred for driving so far.
