I WAS in a good mood today until I read that article. Freakin' scary and somewhat depressing.

Only 9 trillion, huh? That all?!?!?

Yet they still cut education funding.

I like how such a 'conservative' majority can spend so 'liberally'.

there are never cuts, there are only decrease in the rate of growth. Baseline budgeting rears it ugly head again.

Oh, get picky why don't you...

OK, so we'll call them "net effect cuts".

well, if you want to get picky, W is frowned upon in the conservative circles for "net increasing" education funding, letting "the swimmer" Ted Kennedy write the current education bill. Got a beef with it, go gripe to the dems.

Well, I'm not gonna get in a political debate.

the best way to cut government debt is to stop the "unconstitutional" practice of income redistribution. the government'* sole constitutional purpose is national defense (which is the only thing it'* good at). All other goverment ventures turn to complete crap because they involve some sort of income redistribution. The country grew and prospered before there was the income tax, social security, farm subsidies, public education, etc.
