I did the SETI thing a few years ago. Pretty neat how they do this stuff.

Linux huh? The computer out in my garage and my other laptop run Fedora. Maybe I can fire them up for a wee bit.

ok, this proved to be a good excuse to clean out the laptop...

from 56-71 and 58-72 at 50%
tops out at 80 and 80 at full load
idles at 47 and 50

that'* in *C, showing core 0, then 1 when the program is running at 50% processor time, 100%, then just the laptop idling... 80*C is WAY too hot for me!

so, i pulled out a screwdriver, tore off the rear cover, dust removal from the heatpipe and fan, and then some more thermal compound for the CPU/GPU(or is it the northbridge?) set it back in and retested:

from 50-61 and 54-62 at 50%
tops out at 67 and 69
idles at 42 and 46

MUCH better.
