Default Worked on a Z34 today

I did the front brakes on my GF'* sisters Z34 today. She has been running on bad brakes for a while and didn't have the money to fix them. So today I did it for free (I just like tinkering...lol). They also wanted to see if I could check out why it was leaking power steering fluid so bad. Well, found out that the main line was craked and al the fluid was leaking out there. Since the fluid was all leaking out, and this has been going on for a month, the pump went bad too. You know a new GM pump is $700 for that car?!? Well, I found a good ued one for $29 that I am getting tomorrow.

But now where it gets interesting is when I check out everything else. Trany fluid is brown, I mean cardboard box brown. Probobly hasn't been changed in years. That'* not the big issue though. Next I go to look at the coolant... or atleast what is left in the resevoir, which is barely anything. So I fill up the resevoir of what I have left. I start the car to see if any of it gets sucked into the cooling system. Guess what I find. There is a slight lopey idle going on, and it is in sync with the little bubbles floating up in the coolant reevoir. Can you say intake leak?

Well, at least I have some good news. The oil looked really good. Tooo bad i was down a couple quarts.

Anyone want a cheap Z34?

PS: we are now fixing it just enough to sell it/

That'* one of those deals where you wonder how the car was still getting from Point A to Point B. Good work Gordy! By the way, are you coming down to Ames on April Fools' Day?

My cousin (female) drove my GP for a year while she saved up for a good car. She comes over after driving it for 6 months and tells me it'* running like **** and it'* been overheating for over a week
I pop the hood to see what'* going on. Down 2 1/2 qts. of oil. Almost no radiator fluid in the rad. Has'nt changed the oil since she barrowed it. I turned to her, asked her for her purse, took her wallet and calmly as i could told her to get in my Bonne and went to murry'* and bought everything that was needed. Worked on it then exploded do to the fact i could'nt hold my tongue any longer when she got pissed she had to pay for everything. She now comes to me every couple months to check on her car. Purpose of this rant.
MOST WOMEN DO NOT UNDERSTAND CARS! No offense to the women in this club because to my happiness and glee, you ladies know how to take care of a car. All done. Have a nice day, i'm going to drink some more JD & coke

As soon as I got in to pull the car into my driveway I knew i was in for a workout on it. ALL the dash lights were on and I could barely turn the wheel due to lack of power steering.

Nope not coming this year. I will hopefully beable to make it nextyearthough.

So it'* the 3.4 DOHC? Yea get RID OF IT. Those motors can not be abused at all. They require very VERY meticulous maintenance. Timing belts every 75k, synthetic oil, and everything'* impossible to get at. Good idea to just fix it and get rid of it

What year? 98-99 were 3.8L motors. If it is one of them, I might be interested.

Started to pullthe broken power steering lineoff tonight. OMFG that has to be the hardest to gett to piece on the whole car. It took me an hour to get the line loose at the steering shaft base.... just to fin out that the line i needed to lloosen was hiding behind that one...

Anyway, I should hopefully have it fixed in the next couple days. Had to use a sawzall to pull part of the line out, so I'm not holding my breath to get the new one in very easily.
