Default wireless question

i just bought a linksys wireless router and im gonna slowly make all my computers in my house all wireless. my question is do i have to linksys wireless pci cards or can i use other brands? but linksys wants $50 a piece for a wireless pci cards.

i am also haveing a problem with winamp ever since i installed my wireless router, which is still wired to 2 computers. it has to refresh alot. with my other linksys wired router ive never had a problem. anyone have any ideas for that?

Brands don't matter. You just need to know what signal (802.11b & or 802.11g) will work with the router.

Brand makes no difference unless they use compression protocols to speed the coms up. Most do (I know Belkin does). But honestly, most users won't even notice the difference.

Most cards and routers out there are both B and G. Any brand will mix and match just fine. There'* an industry standard. My laptop, Kim'* laptop, and my iPaq and Katie'* iPaq all came with wireless built in. All 4 of these devices work with all wireless routers I've encountered.

I was one of the original people at HP to do the feasability study on Lightscribe. I still have the original CD we burnt with a laser. It had thermal fax paper applied to it instead of our 'special sauce'.

No kidding.

Everything works with everything pretty much with wireless. Try to stick with 802.11g though, it'* got a large speed bump over 802.11b.
