I had good luck with ROCES.

Solomon'* also are good to start with.

Agressive skating is not hard to learn either, I had it down after about 2 months as was able to grind and pull off clean 580s

I'm not sure what exactly you're thinking of doing with them...but here'* my experience...

I'm a former streethockey player. For this, I preferred Bauer skates. They're hard to come by and expensive, but durable and fast. They took my crap for YEARS, until I decided to trade after I wasn't playing much anymore.

My current pair is more for exercise than sport. They're more comfortable, and not quite as fast. I now have a pair of Nikes that fit like tennis shoes. I can skate in them for HOURS.

The basics of what to look for: Look for a harder rubber wheel. They'll last you longer. If you can't find one, though, that'* fine...they can easily be replaced. Also, getting a used skate may not be your best bet, since you don't know how they were maintained (wheels rotated, cleaned, etc). Avoid skates that have a hard outer layer and a "sock". Those inner liner things don't stay put. Most of your better skate brands don't have 'em anymore.

Hope I was SOME help...

I love my K2'*.

If I were you I would find a place that you can try them on real quick. In my experience blade sizes are weird. I wear 10 shoes, but 9 blades.

I have a pair of K2s that I've had for a year. The softboots are really much nice and like previously mentioned if you get the ABEC 5s, they are a really smooth skate. Mine are a more recreation pair then the ones you were looking at, but at 100 bucks, I really don't think I needed anything else. You might want to look at new ones, because if youi're bearings have been treated poorly you'll never know until you get them and start going.
