Red face hehe oops

well i had to drive the wife to work today...As i lifted the front of the bonne off the ground early this morning and took the two front tires off to lube all the bushings i found something bad...First off LMS i started on the pass side got er lubed put the rim on and moved to the drivers side pulled the tire and found this

So needless to say i will be spending my early morning getting/installing a new drivers side cv axel and gleaning all the grease off the trans/suspension/subframe haha

I'm doing the same thing to my 04. Again.
Be careful what axles you get. Maybe its just my car, but it really hates cheap axles. Ive busted up 2 pairs of GSP axles from Advance Auto, and one pair of Dormans from Rock Auto. Its 3 set of GSPs are coming out sometime in the next 2 days (provided we dont get another freak nor'easter this week!) and I got some good used OEMs from Morad sitting here waiting to go in. New OEMS go for $450ea! So I'm hoping the ones I got from Morad solve the problem. I think especially with my FE5, it is really picky about tolerances, the stiffer suspension just transfers any sort of vibrations right back to the steering wheel, even though it hardly sits any higher with the FE5 than it did on the FE1 struts/springs. (max difference at rest is less than a 1/4" in height).

So be careful what axles you get. Hopefully your car is less picky than mine about what goes in there. Theres a reason the aftermarket junk is cheaper. 2 of the GSP axles I had showed signs of the boots failing within a month.

I ended up getting the special slide hammer attachment to pull the axles out. Makes things so much easier for the $30 I spent to get it. No more tearing up the trans case, or prying them out.
At least get ones that have a warranty and keep the receipt safe. All the aftermarket ones Ive seen when doing axles for various cars are pretty poorly built, low tolerances for balance, and the boots are just poorly made and don't flex well.
Just a FWIW.
