Rent before you buy, a lot of the early games are pretty weak (IMO), first person shooter is out of the question, the Wii-mote is to sensitive for my preferences. However Nintendo is coming out with a Wii-gun that the Wii-mote can be loaded in to.

Sports games are awesome, I've recently enjoyed the game Shrek the Third and The Bigs (an MLB arcades style baseball game--far more advanced then Wii Sports baseball).

Also, you can buy a classic remote and download NES, SNES and N64 games. Also with the classic remote, you can play GameCube games on the Wii.

I've not quite figured out how to make your Mii travel in the online feature. :?

The Wii-mote isn't too sensitive for me, although I was terrible at first. To play comfortably, you need a sense of confidence in what you're doing. It takes a while to get adjusted to moving the Wii mote and you need to understand how the mechanics work so you know that when you input a movement it will read it correctly. It'* basically an accelerometer, so think of it that way. You'll understand the Wii-mote well after a while. I do also agree that many of the early games are weak (I have pretty much every Wii-game minus some sports ones). Wii-play is a good game to get since it'* got some fun mini games to familiarize yourself with the Wii-style play, and also they come in packages with a Wii-mote that saves you some money.

Aside from that you can get a new release title list from a local game store and check for titles you might be interested in. Excite Truck is pretty fun if you don't want a story, my room mate liked Trauma Center and Paper Mario, and the sports games get really intense (usually ends in us screaming and cheering and jumping around at the apartment) but from my experience, just rent the various ones and find one you like because there are different levels of automation to each sports game, and some people like it one way and some like it another.

Edit: Forgot to mention classic SNES/NES games and Gamecube games. This is super cool if you have internet access for your Wii because you can buy the classics for your Wii and play them very easily. Gamecube games can be played with the classic remote or with a normal Gamecube remote that will plug in to a little flap that opens up on the top of your Wii. (I prefer the original Gamecube remote). We play Smash bros constantly on the Wii, and I am anxiously awaiting the Wii'* release of Smash Bros Brawl...

About internet access....
I have high speed internet in the house, but no wireless,
I am reading this thing right? THis plugs into the computer and will sent the signal to the Wii???
ANyone use this thing? The Wii just recieves the signal by itself, nothing needs to plug into it?

Yeah, I just realized that I forgot the "this"
Here it is

I guess it sends the signal to the WIi.
So, the Wii does have Wifi built in, huh? Cool
Thanks!

Yea, if you dont have wireless, you'll need an adaptor. We've got wireless, so I just input the network key and I was good to go.

Good point, I'll have to think about that. We actually had wireless before thought the cable company when we had a second computer, but we got rid of it when we got rid of the second puter.
