New models should have the lower intake issues fixed, no? That'* the only major issue I know of.

No G6? Much Much Better.

If i was getting a GA, i'd only get a GT. The SE styling is kinda old and bland and hideious IMO.

If it was a 03/4 i'd only get an SC/T as well with the hood scoops.

I talked to a service manager at a local dealership on this exact issue and he said the issues haven't been resolved. They can fail as soon as 20K and up to 100K. Much like the 3800 UIM, it'* hard telling. The issue with the lower gasket is the very issue that I didn't get a 3100/3400 for my next car (went with the Ecotec instead).

For a biased review on the intake gaskets on the 3100 and 3400 check out www.gm-v6lemons.com.

Jump on Grand Am Owners Club and check out their threads. My fiance was considering a 3.4 Grand Am GT a while back, so I just signed up at gaownersclub.com and made a few posts about technical issues and what not. I got a huge number of responses, and even got into contact with a guy who lives in the same town as I do. It seems to be a classy site, so you may want to give it a go.

I tried, she said it looks like a Honda.

It'* got the 3.4. So it has the some intake problems like the 3800? Maybe I can get a better deal, then.

I'm no expert, but from what I've heard, if anything, it can be worse than the 3800'* upper intake issues.

I'm surprised GM still hasn't fixed it. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they haven't fixed it because their official stand on this would be "it'* not an issue!"
