I was working and only first heard of it at around 11am. I turned on the radio on the way to McDonalds and heard a little bit about it but I didn't feel like listening to news at the moment and wanted music...by the 3rd station I knew it was something big so I started paying attention. It was a little scary for me because I was a civillian at the time and my brother was in the Army. Once I realized it was an attack I started thinking more about what would happen to him if we declared war on someone...

friend of mine told me on the bus around 8 am, was in grade 10, i was like huh? what? then i watched it on TV in the library, quite amazed by it all, couldnt belive it.
I was on my way to work after taking my daughter to school. The local radio station interrupted regular programming (never happens) with the initial report of the first tower being hit. I thought it was a fluke of nature - how often does a plane go right through a sky scraper?
After getting to work and telling others of the report, TV'* were turned on as the devastation mounted. It was the most horrific thing I'd personally experienced since, "Challenger, go throttle up."
It was also a turning point in my life. Soon after that dreadful day, I found the courage to leave the employment I'd been at for over 13 years. The realization of life being too short hit home, and I chose another path.
Three years later the pain is still with me, but I'm a much happier individual. I've finally landed a job I enjoy and work with the most wonderful person imaginable. Life is good.
In honor and memory of Todd Beamer (and so many others who lost their lives); "LET'* ROLL!" I'll be wearing my Todd Beamer t-shirt tomorrow and flying flags from all four car windows. Lest we never forget...

Mindind my own business in DollyWood (A tourist spot by Knoxville, Tn) and I was making deliveries. I had 4 stops. The first stop was at 8:45am EST, 2nd at 9:15am. 3rd at 10:45 and the last at 12:30. I never found out what had happened until my last stop. I was listening to the radio but not paying to much attention because it was low and all the stations were talking. I never found out what had happened until I got out of the vicinity and my signal on the phone was back on and my the girlfriend said she was trying to reach me lik29 times to see if I was ok. I told her yeah. She said did you hear what happened? I said no Shen then explained and IO felt bad becaus I went 4 hours knowing nothing. Then I watch the news and it was just unreal. God was with me cause I normally head out to New York or New Jersey for deliveries but at that time I went south instead.
It was kind of a slow morning, I was taking care of busy work at the house and trying to get my buddy on the Nextel to see what he had planned for that day. My mother called my all frantic telling me to turn on CNN. Thats about all anybody in our workgroup did that day. Our boss called us on the team channel about an hour later telling us to try and avoid any service calls in high profile areas for the day and if nothing else was going, to just go home and park it. We were slow, my eyes were on the TV till 2:30 in the morning. I remember the gas panic, heard the stores were crowded with people shopping like it was their last trip.
Reminded me of the OKC bombing, I lived 85 miles north of OKC at the time. It was a big deal here

i too remember it like it was yesterday... I was in bed sleepin, just graduated from HS, i rememebr my mom coming into my room freakin out about airplanes and world trade center, i dismissed it as me hearing/thinking weird saying to myself "who the hell would do a thing like that" then she came in again and i relized she was serious... so i quickly jumped up flipped on the news in time to hear them discussing it then the 2nd plane hit and i stayed GLUED to the news all that day....
God Bless all lost thier lives that day and thier families, America is with you

I was at work. The VP'* sister called to tell us a plane had hit one of the towers. At first it just sounded like a terrible accident, but someone turned on a radio to hear more news and then the second plane hit, and then the next hit the Pentagon. By the time the towers fell we were at the VP'* house watching the news. One woman was crying, everyone else was just staring, and I was trying like a crazy person to figure out how to get news of my cousin Maddie, who worked in Building 7 of the WTC. (It turned out she wasn't at work because September 11 is her birthday).
