I remember "Behind the Laughter" but if they live in Kentucky, how do you explain the sea port? Kentucky has no coastal borders. Is Kalamazoo on one of the Great Lakes?

There has been a huge debate over the years about this issue. I have spent many years devoted to this show, and I have spent much time dealing with the Simpsons web community. They have gone through every single episode, pulling clues about where they could be. There are clues that lead to practically every single state, and there are clues that go against every single state. The most logical conclusion is: it is an imaginary city. Springfield is a popular name for a city, since there is one in almost every state. Matt Groening, the creator, lived near a Springfield in Oregon, and he created the Simpsons based off of his family, so some believe it is in Oregon. But most likely, it is just a made up city, and the writers put in those clues to keep ya watchin.
