Whats AIM?

I changed my internet to Netscape now I have this AIM thing , I think its like MSN messenger? is it? Anybody have this? is it good? Sorry for all the ?'*, I cant use it dont know anybody that has it.

You can still use email to find your friends. But itll only show up if they have AOL'* instant messanger.

How come not alot of people post their screen name so the link shows up on the bottom of each reply? I thought thats what it was for. Guess to many poeple wanna hide.
