Default What is whine?

Didn't know if I should put in the Lounge or General Chat but I played it safe and stuck it in the Lounge

For you guys with SSEis. What is Whine? Can it be felt, what does it sounds like? Does it sounds like the word "whine"?

I know this is like explaining colors to a blind man since I'm deaf....but the blind dude can't feel colors can he? I'm hoping whine can be felt. If it can, what does it feel like?

I've ridden in Brian'* PA Ultra and felt nothing. I've even ridden in 8-Ball and felt nothing, well I felt my eyes meeting my brain.

And IIRC willwren once said to me "Come to WCBF and you'll ride in my car and I guarantee that you will feel the whine, my deaf friend"

Please help :P

Im sorry, but i dont think it can be felt, i dont think you can feel sound with a high pitch like that, its not like a low pitch base note.

the only feeling you will have is, like you said your "eyes meeting your brain"

I have always wondered how you describe sound to someone that doesnt know what sound sounds like :?

I imagine it'* not too dissimilar from describing colors to someone who is color blind. It'* a matter of relative perception. Just like understanding roughly what a word means even though you've never looked it up in a dictionary. You learn or perceive based on context.

His understanding may be somewhat different from what we each see as the reality of that "sound", but it will be relative to what he knows.

And since perception is such a huge portion of reality...

Whine is the noise that protrudes up from under the hood of an SSEi

It can be felt in a variety of ways, for instance, mash the pedal to the ground on an SSEi and you will "FEEL" how hard the pull is when doing so.

It can also be seen, just line up with a NA Bonne, count to three and mash the pedal. you will see that the whiner will PULL away from the non whiner thus actually "seeing" whine.

The sound of whine is much harder to describe. It is high in pitch and goes from low to high wih the engine while accelerating.

The engine rev is the low octave and the Supercharger is the higher octave, combined to make one sweet noise!!

This concludes the explanation of whine

That'* a tough one, since a car can be fast and not have "whine." You can't really 'feel' the sound, but you can "feel" the supercharger, which makes the whine. The gears in the supercharger can feel it though!

Cody, I think the best way to describe it is the sound of two gears rubbing together, because, in essence, that'* what it is. it'* a very high pitched noise that gives me a headache from time to time, lmao

Well, I think I understand it a bit more.

I'm not asking if i could see whine.

Someone told me that on certain superchargers, you can't feel the whine but on some you can. Something about pitch or bitch?
