What is he doing?

Ok so i just saw the Geico commercial with the guy playing guitar

what exactly is he doing? i know it has to do w/ and air tube and the note he plays on the guitar. But thats all i know.

Anyone?

my guess is he is running his voice through the same effects box as the guitar...

anywho, whats happening is his, the guitar is plug into a device called a talkbox, the talkbox then alters the sound of the guitar and then projects it through a tube, that runs up the mic stand and then the guitarist, in this case frampton, puts the tube in or near his mouth. then the sounds out through the tube is sent into the mouth and the. relfected back into the microphone. the sound can be altered and turned into words by moving the mouth like we see frampton do.
