ya I guess same thing happens when u disconnect the battery.
It falls back into closed loop. I think it needs something like 6 starts with time in between and runs for the open loop to happen again. Maybe I got closed and open backwards...LOL
Glad it passed though.

SO, I think my thermostat was broken. That top metal part isn't supposed to be up that high.

Looks fine to me. Your looking at 2 different mfgr images.

As long as the spring has tension, and the center copper plug seals into the upper part and if you do the pot of water on the stove with thermometer test, then you can rest assured your t-stat is fine.

Spent the day scouting parts at the Pic-a-Part yards in Phoenix. It rained in Phoenix on Friday, and water doesn't drain in Phoenix, so the yards were all flooded. Can't complain, having pulled a gas tank out of a frozen in the ground 1967 Newport at a pick a part yard in the 1980'* at 10 below zero, wet feet are nothing.

Here is the headlamp that I picked up for $15 from a 2005 Bonneville with 75k miles. It was a aftermarket replacement, but for $15 I could not refuse. I also went to pull the fuel pump, but it was already replaced with a airTech, so I let it sit.

Found this 2001 Bravada. It is rust free, but full of rat droppings through the entire engine bay and interior. Did it smell bad.

I will be back after the water drains for the brake lines, fuel lines, and rear bumper. The rear bumper, unless replaced, is an easy way to see if the Bravada/ Blazer/ Jimmy has been up north. Those rear steel bumpers rust like crazy. The bumper on this Bravada did not have a spec of rust.

Everything in that yard looks rust free to me. The yards up here in the north are full of rot boxes.

(yesterday) i installed a remote start in the girlfriends impy. i have one thing to say; dash ignitions SUCK!

on a side note: even though the car does not utilize any resistance in its Pass Lock 2 system,(i have a factory stamped hunk of brass key) i still had to hook up the remote starts bypass in order to get it to start.
