You might also want to look at upgrading your harddrive. I recently upgraded the hd in my laptop from a 40gb 5400rpm drive to a 60gb 7200rpm drive and the performance increase is AMAZING. What used to take 45-50 seconds from power on to welcome screen now takes 15-20 seconds. Best upgrade I ever did. Plus I got to use the old 40gb drive in a USB2.0 enclosure.

most pc hard drives are 7200 rpms already... so hard drive upgrade options to increase speed will be very costly unless he has a nearly full hard drive

sounds like low ram, but uve got 512mb, how many progs do u run at once?
and what do u consider normal applications, give me names of software or what ur using it for?

Do u have ur ram set up for dual channel, because ur system supports it

Go to http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and download Belarc dvisor

It'll give you an unbelievable breakdown of info about your system. From there you can work on upgrades or eliminating software

i think it was just spyware i install spyware doctor and ran a sweep well it is a hell of alot faster now i had spysweeper before and it didnt pickup anything really
