The worst basketcase I ever owned was my '88 S10 Blazer 4x4. Wanna talk rust? The WHOLE thing was rusty. Never got it fixed, got it for free, sold it for $100.

'90 Sunbird. Lamest, slowest, most problematic car on the face of the earth.

Bought
Drove for 2 weeks.
Overheated on freeway, middle of the night, in the rain
Then paid for $500 tow and impound...
Got it back
wouldn't start the next morning
then started leaking MASSIVE amounts of coolant
replaced head gaskets, cooling fans and wiring harness, water pump and hoses...and all was good again...
then drove for another week....
once AGAIN overheated in the middle of the night, in the rain, but got it home...
let it sit...and...sit some more. and then it sat a bit longer.
then wouldn't hold a charge
replaced the battery
worked for a couple days...
then opened the top one day...and it didn't go back up....ohhhh great
so put it in my neighbor'* yard...with plastic and tape over it....
then we had a massive thunderstorm.
great
plastic started leaking....
filled water clear past the seats (no idea why it didn't drain)
now we have a car...with an overheating problem, bad charging system, and full of water, and developing mold and mildew.
wonderful.
so one day...i got it started...let it run for a little bit...put it in gear..and FLOORED it right out (was sitting in a ditch, very soft grass and dirt)
had no power at all whatsoever...
finally got the top up (who knows why it started working out of the blue)
so got it across the st...to a parking lot...and parked it...for the night only.
next morning...oh great, someone slashed the convertible top in about 10 places...thanks ********.
so then that same day...sat on the trunk...and asked every person i could find, if they wanted a free car...title in hand.
no one.
finally got someone the next day...some weird derelict dude who said he "needed a place to stay"
signed car over...gave keys...cool.
he moved the car exactly 5 blocks..parked it right behind the same car dealer where I got it

sat there for a year....
then got towed...
went to a junkyard not too long after that...
saw it there...semi crushed...underneath an olds 88, a silverado and a minivan.

good riddance.

Holy COW!

That wrangler has more rust than good steel. You sure you want to tackle something that far gone?

My biggest money-pit? That'* a tough one to answer. None of my cars has really bled me to death. Biggest problem was that damn Honda. I sold it 9 months ago, and still get citations from the new owner'* transgressions. Of course, after I told Daddy to tell his spawn to register it so I don't get DUI/Impound notices, I think the problem is finally solved.

I actually owned that car TWICE. I bought it as a virtual wreck, fixed it up, cleaned it up, sold it for a profit, bought it back for less, and then sold it for a BIGGER profit.

the good on this cj for me is the grill and hood and the dana 300 transfer case. since it has to be built on the cheap i'll probably run the dana 30 axle and amc 20 rear too. lookig for a frame and tub as we speak.

Well Chris, for a "hack" it turned out looking presentable enough. Good luck on the second one.

Jeeps are pretty cool.. there'* damn near nothing on the vehicle that somebody in the aftermarket doesn't make in three different flavors. You could start out with the VIN tag off of one and buy the rest of it one piece at a time through the aftermarket.

while that is possible i could never afford to do so. have you seen the prices for tubs and frames on 4wd.com?
