I got to sleep around 11 pm last night and was still hoping to get a good 7 hours...didn't work so well.
I woke up at around 3 am to a loud "thunk". I rolled over, and my fiance wasn't in bed...insta-panic. I went to the living room and found him sleeping, so I went to turn on the light...no power. I woke him up and we went to find a flashlight, and instead found all kinds of downed power lines.
This wouldn't be such a bad thing if they weren't downed ACROSS ALL THREE PICKUP TRUCKS.
Commonwealth Edison got them off the trucks just in time for me to leave for work...10 hour shift today
Then I get to go home and clean up a HUGE downed tree.

So I hear. I keep getting complaints from the truckers showing up this morning.
The power lines on the trucks wouldn't be as sucky/funny if they had been parked together or even on the same side of the house...

Update on this. It finally quit raining so I could get a good look at my pickup. It seems to be fine, other than one minor dent and lots of brown/black scuff marks where the lines hit and rubbed...allllll the way up the hood AND across the top of the cab...the ComEd guy was putting the lines back up and dropped them on the top of the cab
If anyone knows of something that'd be good at getting those scuffs off without damaging the paint, that'd be spiffy. They're kind-of gooey. I don't want to know how old those power lines are.
