Well moving to my new Job/shop! Woooo!
the bad part is its fun to get 6000lbs of toolboxes and tools onto the trailer to take 60 miles to my new job and Apartment-boss owns the apartment.
boy it will be a blast working in a 14,000sq foot shop...two floors (lots of storage!) with a full basement and a freight elevator!!!! plenty of room fer my projects cars as I can get them out there!
the best part is in a year or so I have the option of buying his old house and 2 car garage (when he'* (we) done fixing some stuff) on contract...4 bedroom house with a full basement on a lot that Wayne had 36 cars on at one time...and it'* zoned industrial...I can keep whatever crap I want there..Hehe! and it'* a growing area of rockford so in 20 years property will be twice as (or more) valuable...
The best part? my new boss Wayne (yeah the shops called Waynes World...let the Garth jokes commence...) is a fellow dragracer/gearhead and Byron Dragway is only 20 minutes away!!!!!!!!!
WWOOOOOooooo!
just sux moving my toolboxes....
wish me luck!
James

thanks guys! been enjoying myself out in rockford, its just north of 20 west off of 11th ST and you turn left at the carquest on 11 ave and we are on the right side the big warehouse before the open park. got 1 lift so far (another soon) we have a frame rack and more that still need to be assembled...a mandrel bender soon to be on order along with a 4 post alignment rack as soon as we get more stuff sorted out...
now for the cool stuff...
Al got the cage for the 442 (cutlass) and boy is it nice! it'* amazing what CNC mandrel benders can do....
at my new shop in rockford are...
a model A ford in good shape needing resto,
a 66 Olds 442...AND a late 60'* 442 Convertible
3 first gen Camaro'*
1 64 impalla
1 70 Nova
1 74 chevy stepside pickup
68 chevelle
77 2 dr malibu
all of which are in ok to great condition and needing restoration etc. so I have plenty of busy work if things get slow...
and the coolest part I think I have found the perfect car so i can get rid of the rustbucket 74 Nova i race...an Oldsmobile starfire (think Monza/Vega but Olds...v8 RWD!) this car is just screaming for my turbocharged 400 sbc and a 5 spd manual trans! and it is in beutiful shape with almost no rust at all! Wooooo!
I have been enjoying myself so far... this next week will find us tearing apart the trans on the 2 dr malibu which is the current shop drag car.
only got a few pics and more will be comming soon...the indoor storage space that most of the cars are in isnt wired for lights yet...so its really dark!
Pic of the rear of the 66 Olds 442...just past it is the 442 convertible...
Pic of a 90 Grand prix that was in a demolition derby...it won!...took engine and trans out and junked the shell
pic of a S10 pickup that is being fixed up has a new longblock 4.3L in it...so I will be able to check the crank in the old block for possibile swapping into the SI 3800'*, and Wayne'* Lincoln TIG/Stick welder that we will be using to weld the twin engine 442'* new cage...
I'll keep ya'll posted!
