You can't even begin to imagine the amount of hatred I feel towards thieves. I'm going to leave it at that, it just gets me all worked up and pissed off thinking about it. Sorry for your loss man. I hope the security cameras picked up who did it and they nail the piece of ****....

I don't condone theft, but every time I hear someone in traffic booming, it is like they are just asking to be followed home and ripped off. To a thief, the more you show, the more you owe.
I agree that a security system would have been a better investment.

I've been there twice and won't be there again. I refuse to put anything worth much in vehicle. They are just too easy to get into and no one gives a care that an alarm is going off anymore.

My Sable has been gotten into at least 10 times in the past few months but nothing was stolen because there isn't anything in there to steal except a 10 yr old HU w/o a faceplate. I don;t even keep change in the ashtray.

As suggested, a good two-way alarm should be your first purchase.

With all the calls for an alarm, may I recommend one feature to insist on when getting the alarm.....

The siren on an alarm is only as good as the signal sent to the siren to deter the theif. It is popular to sever the wires running to the siren if possible, then no matter what is going on, the siren is silent....except for one style siren. There is a siren made that contains it'* own circuit board, battery and keylock. It will take the signal output from a regular alarm wire and work normally. IF the wires are severed, the circuit determines the battery and signal are now interrupted, and it goes off an ot'* own. Fully self contained. There are only 2 ways to stop it. 1) Destroy it. 2) Use the convienent key provided to turn it off. This way your alarm is 2 alarms in one. If a thief tries to disable your alarm, he sets it off. Makes for a real headache for the thief.

I've had the break-in problem in the past...many years ago. When I realized it happened, I never felt so violated in my life. I know your sick feeling. Add insult to my pain, they didn't get anything...so they broke things to make life more miserable. Destroyed interior, trashed head unit, bent trunklid, etc. I lost nothing but still had a loss from the damage. It hurt. Give it time....in about 20 years, you'll still want to kill the b@sturds, but you'll have experienced many good things with friends and the pain will recede. It takes time. So sorry for your loss.

I believe what they call that is a Battery back up alarm. When I had my Rockford Fosgate system in my Eclipse, I had a viper system with a Battery back up alarm in case power was interrupted.

It also had a dual zone system (one for a shock sensor, and one for the alarm) The shock sensor was nice. It allerted a potential theif that the car is alarmed by sending out audible chirps if they walk by the car and hit it.

If they hit it hard enough, the alarm will sound. I think that I went overboard with the inside piezo alarm.

Nothing ever got stolen thank god, and I like many, put allot of work and money into building my system.

It was well worth the extra money (that I saved up for) to get the alarm. Unfortunately, it went to the JY with the car. :(

Definitely call the police in the area where it happened. I've been on many theft cases to Wal-Mart, and their video surveillance is EXTREMELY good. If it happened on their parking lot, I can almost guarantee they've got their plate.

The alarm suggestions are good ideas but none of them will do any good unless ya get a pager to go with the alarm
