i like how cnn/msnbc is trying to profile this whole situation. they said that the gunman was asian. then they compared it to past school shootings that were done by mostly men of different ethnicities (ie not american). then they went to age groups and discussed how most of the suspects were all men that were around the ages of 17-29. couldnt it just be some crazy ******* that someone pissed off?

I agree with MOS on this one, and its a tough thing for me to agree to, because its an issue I feel strongly about.

My opinion can be summed up in a quote:

"If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns"

No matter what you do to control guns, people who really want them, like criminals, gangs, psychopaths, etc, will still get them, the problem with guns isnt in the weapons themselves, but the people who use them.

But I really dont want to see this topic sway too far from its original point, and it is a tragedy, so back on topic *cracks whip*

I didn't get in to VT, really wanted to go there, still do, probably gonna transfer there after two years elsewhere.

The only good that could possibly come out of this is it'll be a little easier to get in next year maybe.

This is horrible, I know several friends there right now :( .

Don't get me wrong, I was just demonstrating the pain the families of the victims will feel. Gun control debates are a matter of opinion, not fact.

I didn't realize the way my comment might have been interpreted, never meant to get any politics involved.
Anyways, I wouldn't downplay the importance of politics, especially at a time like this. Politics are important, it runs your lives everyday. I think things like this are a reminder of our dependency on protection from our government, and the sign that something may need to change. I don't see this as an inevitable tragedy. Somewhere, something went wrong. Maybe the gunman needed medical help he never got, or whatever...it could be a million different things.

I don't know if you're noticing it more, or that we have more access to news now than we've ever had. While it'* a good thing that it'* easier to stay informed, I also think that sometimes we get or expect too much information.

And again, I'm sorry I brought up the political aspect of this tragedy...
