Default video cards and tv'* and whatnot

ok my video card supports tv-out, thats all fine and dandy except i dont have the cable. which brings me to my next question. how does it look playin games and stuff on the tv? my tv isnt very big.but its bigger than my monitor. and other question being where can i find one of these cables?

ok found all kinds of *-video cables. is this what i need? does it have to be anything special for the video card? my uncle (dude who gave me the card) has the cable somewhere. but hes too lazy to go find it. claims it didnt come with one. i remember when he bought it!! it did!!

My video has tv-out also but I dont use it. My card is a Gainward 128mb GF4 TI-4200 Ultra/650-8X TV. About the only gaming I do on my PC is Flt Sim 2002. Circuit City, BestBuy carries the cables you need. Either a *-video cable or a composite (coaxial) video cable.

So, I assume that your tv has an *-video in? Last time we tried on a 27", we couldn't go above 800x600...which sucked..dunno if it'* better now or not, haven't tried in a while. What kind of card is it?? I can better answer your question if I knew what card it was...

its a GeForce 4 MX 420, says it has tv-out up to 1024x768. anyway no my tv doesnt have an *-video in. seems like the cable that came with it hooked up to the audio/video "thingies" thats what id need, either that or one that hooked up to whatever the regular "dealy" is.

Anything larger than 640X480 with TV out will be crap (fuzzy, hard to read) unless its a movie or you have a HD TV or LCD/Plasma TV. Usually you can use a straight *-video to *-video cable if your TV supports it. Otherwise you can usually find an *-video to RCA adapter and just run an RCA cable to your TV...

For games and such it'* fine. You wont wanna read on it cause it'* not a high res at all. Get an svideo cable, a svideo to RCA adapter (a couple bux at radio shaq, about an inch long) and an RCA cable. I have this setup going from my 4200 to my TV.Works great for divx movies! (although so does our dvd and our ps2...)

Well, like Rogue said, 640x480 is prolly the most you wanna go. We were pushin' it (kinda getting desperate, actually ) to go 800x600. Plug it into your tv, go 640x480, then 800x600, see what you can live with. It will be a tv resolution, though, not a monitor resolution, if you know what I mean...don't expect the pixels to look as smooth as a CRT...
