Honestly...I think you'd be able to find a used trans somewhere around the country cheaper than that.

Is used a consideration or only rebuild? (I know the decision isn't all yours)

Well, won't that be a little risky getting a used one? I guess that would be an option if you could tell me where to look.

you can find places that will give 30day, 90day and some times 120Days Warranty'* with them. and there around $250-$450 normally for a used one.

there is a Place up in Mass that gives a 6 mo warrenty

one i got from a yard that came with a 60 day warranty, for my 00

Go to AAMCO, get the lifetime guarantee, expect to blow it at least once more, but never pay for it again. I did that the first time my Taurus blew a trans, and the next two were free.

Seriously, though, ask your local GM dealer who they buy from and go there.

Personally...I wouldn't let Aamco near my car if it were on fire. My experience is going to them is equivalent to being a willing participant in your own gang rape.

I've put tons of used transmissions in cars with my mechanic buddy. Look for a good warranty if you can.
