thinking of buying this omega for my son for his birthday he will be 21 do you think he will like it .
it is a 2.2 litre sport so will not cripple him on the insurance

well i would definetely like it, especially if someone else bought it for me....throw some tint and maybe some wheels on there and thats a dang good looking car..
on the other hand, wasnt the Catera one of the worst vehicles GM/Cadillac ever made as far as reliability? Ive never heard anything good about them and I can count the number ive seen on the road on one hand with fingers left.

The worst ones where the early 2.5 v6 and the 3.0 ones this is a four pot, which they have been using for a few years now .
my vectra has has the same engine but smaller cc and i haven't had a days trouble with the engine

well then i say go for it, sounds like itll be relatively cheap to keep on the road, both insurance and gas mileage wise...which is all any 21 yr old could want at this point.
I havent went above 3000 rpms all week.....trying to save some money....it sucks.

YES!, the mechanics at work hate those things they suck to work on and are always breaking down, aswell the bodys dont hold up well if im not misstaken

This is a 2002 model one of the last run ,so it should have had all the little things that go wrong ironed out by now.

I'm sure he would love it, but i bet he would love it even more if you got him a Bonneville.... j/k Those are nice, my friend mark in Plymouth England has one and hasnt had any problems... Lucky kid you got there

Yeah, the 3.0L 200hp Cateras weren't so good for reliablility, at least from my research last year when I almost bought one. If you take care of them and have the money and desire to fix them when things go wrong it could be a good fun car to drive. I've always liked the pre 2000, before they changed the taillights into separate pieces. I see quite a few of them around here, and every one I see is in excellent shape.
