I've never been given the option to do a PIN based transaction on my card. Everywhere I've ever bought anything with it has used it as a credit card.
And I rarely use it at the ATM. Not too many places I go where I need cash. They all take credit/debit cards....

I would hope the machine....The only thing they ask {or should ask} is if you want to use the card as debit or credit. After reading that article, I'm saying CREDIT.

I always use the pin, don't have to sign anything, it'* faster. My problem is when I am out of my "home" area and they freeze it for suspicious activity. Like when I go to NY and use it once and try again and is declined. Call the cc company and tell them I am actually there trying to use it.
There are actually places in which you can use a debit card as a credit, aka, no PIN? :? Not here.
My dad'* actually been burned twice by this - luckily the bank caught it and notified us, and them being insured, we got the money back. The second time was more coincidence than anything... but anyway, the rule of thumb - use CASH at places like gas stations, or small shops. You should be good to go if at a major supermarket retailer, or the like. It'* easy to put card readers and PIN readers on smaller, dodgy businesses...

Don't ever tell anyone your PIN.
