Default TV tuner software

anyone running a TV tuner card? If so, what software are you running.

I have a Conexant BtPCI WDM, both video and audio capture card, but I am not sure what software to use it with.

I always recommend this, but I'm not sure this is what you're looking for...

Also, there is other programs, like http://www.snapstream.com/ if you want to download an illegal copy or buy one.

Is it a direct cable line or one from a cable box?

Ya, I had a ATi tuner video card with a cable in co-ax? The software installed with the new video card took care of the rest.

3 year later it (video card) died. :?

Direct cable line. There is only 1 box in the house, and its downstairs.

I dont have any software, as I bought this computer with no software discs.

If you're trying to get a TV signal off your cable, you'll need a cable box. Otherwise, you'd need the software equivalent of a descrambler.

x2. The cable box decodes, since otherwise people can just steal cable. You should be able to get basic cable from just the cable line, though (unless your area is all digital).

Find a friend that works for your cable company to tell you what kind of system they use for cable. But you will probably need a cable box since my area activates your cable through the */N of your cable box. Use a different one than what'* registered, and it won't work.

You need to look up the model tuner card you have.

I have two in my HTPC, one is analog and the other is digital.
In my area basic cable is unscrabled anaolg, no need for a box. If your tv pulls in the channels off the cable w/o a box then your tuner card should also unless its digital, not installed correctly(drivers), or broken.

Snapstreams Beyond TV works well as does GBTV, and Knoppmyth which is also free.
I've yet to try Microsofts Media Center edition of XP.

If you find something different that works great let us now about it.
