Default Trouble with Autozone

alright guys, i need some advice

i finally got my rice pipe shipped from Autozone, ordered it online and had it sent here (duluth, MN) and there'* not a store within 150 miles.

I got the part, which i paid full price for, and they sent me an open box, mutilated packaging, and the tube actually has somewhat minor scratches on what will be the upper surface of the pipe!

I called customer service, but it was afterhours, so the guy told me to email them. I sent in a lengthy detailed complaint, stating that i'm not willing to accept another 2 weeks of waiting for this part to ship back and have a replacement shipped out. I also offered to take digital pictures of the damage if they want.

Any feedback? similar experiences? you guys think i'm totally wasting my time? i'm kinda hoping for a partial refund or a gift card or something, but we'll see what actually happens. i'll keep updates coming.

did u try to buff them out...

i bet that you want/need to put it in will take over the waiting time...

when i took mine out after 6-8 months of being in, it was really scratched and hazed... it happens...

get some good metal polish on it and see how it goes...

post those pics u emailed

oh, i didn't actually take any pictures yet. the scratches are actually very minor, it just pissed me off that they'd do that, give me, who has no choice in the matter, a beatup package like that, when i have no chance to return it

even tho it is not good, and they shouldnt have sent it like that... there is no reason to worry about the packaging...and as for the scratches....they will be some that show up the first second you install the pipe on the car

dont sweat it

update on this issue:

I got a phone call on friday from an autozone customer service guy. he told me "well, what i'm gonna do is ship you out another one of the part, just forget about the first one." i says "so do i ship the first one back in the packaging, or what?" he replies "no, just keep it. forget about it."

i think i'm gonna bring this one back to autozone and get some 43 bucks back then

did you read the beginning of the thread? the whole ordeal was because they sent me an open box damaged item and i paid full price for it and had no choice in the matter. it would have been different had i gone to the store and made the decision myself, but i ordered it online and was given that, whether i liked it or not.

i consider it perfectly ethical, if they're willing to just give me a replacement, i'm going to return it, considering i already broke down and used the scratched one, expecting no reply from them.

I'd say don't be a stiff. They helped out. If you want to get a couple bucks back, sell it on here for half of what you paid. They took care of you in the end, don't do something classless to negate it.
