Default Today'* random car fact.

Interesting little tidbit of info - Apparently back when the 3.1 mated to the Automatic trans was debuted in the Cavalier, People complained about its low end torque when passing, apparently around 35-40mph, when you WOT to pass, it would slighty "EEK" the tires.

Video (not mine, I have a 5 speed.) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp_JAapaEBQ

Heck, i wouldn't have been complaining.

I'm not sure why it would of spun the tires. The acceleration doesn't look that great?

2588lbs + 185 ft/lbs tq (low to mid range tq) = tires spin real easily.

The automatics are held back terribly by the 2.84 ratio, compared to the 5 speed'* 3.61. 0-60 for a 5 speed is 7.9, while the auto is 8.6.

Hmmm back in the day they had the 3T40, but there were diffrent gear ratios...

In the later years, that 30-40 chirp was bad on the 440-T4 Trans, as most of the 3.1'* were attached to the GX3 3.33 Ratio trans... You could lite em up on call with the 3.33
