I feel your pain. I remember watching the tow truck take away my old Sable and thinking, "Hey, that'* my car."

Any advice for people who don't want their Bonnies to meet a similar fate? And does it only affect 2000+ models?

far as i know it is only with the 2000+ models from SE to GXP. the water and ethanol if spilled or just weather in general is allowed to get down there due to poor GM design of the body. you will notice paint bubbles in the paint under the fuel door and that is the start of it get it fixed ASAP!

My exterior looks fine, and the inside of my fuel door appears to be lined with plastic. But I'll be taking a very close look tomorrow when I have daylight.
