I was just at the Detroit Auto Show this past weekend, and talked it up with a Pontiac rep for a bit about the G8. He said that the 6-speed manual WILL be coming to America, but they can't legally say it because of some kind of EPA confusion. It will be coming this fall. Hope that made everyone'* day, it sure made mine

why are regulations different with a manual transmission?

EVERYTHING that I have heard about the manual, is that the auto will be comming first, and the six speed will be a few months later, waiting for production to ramp up :?

I have yet to hear anything about the manual not being available to the U.*. :?

There'* two types of reps there, the salesmen/showgirls and the people that actually work for GM. This was the latter. He wore a lanyard with a GM ident. card attached.

I cant think of any reason why it wouldnt come to the US. As far as gas mileage is concerned manuals typically get better gas mileage than their automatic counterparts.

it has already been said that the v8 is gonna offer a 6speed man, and 6speed auto, i am pretty sure motortrend has confirmed it

Most info points to a M6 for the 09 model year.
