At least you drive! I have to park my beautiful GA in the fridged parking lot never to see it again for the better part of a week, then walk my butt to classes in the minus whatever windchill for a couple blocks. I feel little sympathy. :P

Hey, you know how grumpy I get when it rains...

Sorry, I couldn't resist. That'* probably why we get hurricanes here. They're retribution for our smugness during the winter.

Yeah I had to walk the whole 15 steps to my car, then the whole 10 steps to the door to my office from my reserved parking spo.... Oh we're talking about hardships. Oops.

Although its not that cold here (usually between 10 & 25*F) I don't have any remote starter or block heater or any of that crap and I have no problems. My car is carbureted, not only does it not want to start in the cold but once it does run, due to the lack of a choke, you have no choice but to let it warm up for like 5 minutes before you can drive anywhere. Even if I had a remote starter it would do no good because the car wouldn't start anyways. I have to go out there, pump the gas twice, once it starts I have to rev it up to 2krpm right away and hold it there for about 20 seconds so it drops down to about 500-600 or so and idles and warms up. By the time it is actually warm enough to not sputter and whatnot its hit about 800rpm. Then I definately have to have my gloves on because that damn shifter is black and like ceramic or something so its really damn cold. I also have black interior which doesn't help. But really, its not that bad. Everyone complains but you just have to suck it up and deal with it.

Sometimes if I don't want to wait for it to warm up, I'll start it up rev it to 2k for like 30 seconds, let it idle down for another 30 seconds, rev it to 2k and slowly let the clutch out and take off down the road. (if I try to let the clutch out normally it will definately stall without fail) I pull out of the neighborhood onto the main road, and just mash the gas to the floor. It usually does a series of cough, sputter, backfire, cough and then takes off as normal and I just leave my foot in it for a minute and repeat this a few more times (the next few times typically aren't accompanied by the coughing, sputtering, and backfiring) and its warmed up and I'm actually getting heat. Its obviously really shitty for the engine but I don't care about the POS 305.

I don't know what'* wrong with me, but I was just picturing your take off on a late cold morning and it was pretty darn funny in my twisted imagination.

Thanks! I needed that.

It probably wouldn't be as funny if it wasn't true. I do that most of the time because I don't feel like sitting there for 5 minutes. I do this when I leave at work too, but since I work at K-mart, I just do it in the parking lot before I hit the road. 40mph is the top of first so I usually just go balls to the wall until 40 and then pull out onto the main street.
