Get ready to reset them. The poles may be going to flip

Is the Earth preparing to flip?

By Dr David Whitehouse
BBC News Online science editor

Finding the shifting magnetic pole
It is not just the plot for a far-fetched science-fiction disaster movie. Something unexplained really is happening to the Earth'* magnetic field.
In recent years, the field has been behaving in ways not previously seen in the admittedly short time it has been monitored.

Some researchers think it may presage a geomagnetic reversal when the north and south magnetic poles flip.

I wonder if this happens if our water in the northern hemisphere will drain counter clockwise like it doesn currently in the southern hemisphere and whether theirs will drain clockwise...always been facinated by this...

Humm, what would happen when it is right in the middle( the northpole where the equator is now)? Will it drain straight down......

Now, it doesn't mention the Earth will flip, just the magnetic poles, and is unlikely to affect life on Earth.

It may affect migration patterns and homing pigeons...lol..I dunno...

Day to day life as we see it in our own little microcosm will remain unaffected :P

I know just the poles will flip. But eventually the pole will have to cross the equator, right? The gavitatioal pull will change also right( magnetic field reversing & all) ?

Maybe or am I off my rocker????

Gravitational pull will still be towards the center of the earth. Navigation will be way off, that'* for sure. Have to start using the stars again.
