But the exhaust crossover pipes are way too small for it, and hopefully I can find an exhaust shop that will remedy that for me when my car goes out of warranty. Other than the size difference, the 3.9 also has a variable intake manifold and has the DOD system, and can be found in the Monte Carlo/Impalas and the Malibu SS (which I hope to be getting at the end of the year).
I thought the 5.3 V8 was the only engine that had Displacement On Demand. Does the 3.9 really have it?

I really don't think that DOD is that practical anyway. It only works (I think) on very flat or downhill roads at certain speeds.
But anyway, the 3.9L is very interesting. Some has driven the SS Malibu, some in the G6 GTP. But what about a Impy? Or a MC? Anyone driven a LTZ version?

hah, that is funny, a few days ago i was gonna post about this engine and i guess someone read my mind...it seems impressive, i just gotta go find the time to go test drive it...sounds fun to me! I can't believe it is N/A and puts ou that kinda power...that thing puts our engines to shame. The only think I don't like spec wise is that it does not exactly have the torque it should...maybe that is because it has more than 2 valves per cylinder...or does it? I forgot. I think it has 2 but in most cases that does seem to affect torque. Maybe...
