The new pioneers like the AVIC D3 are very affordable, and work well for movies in the car as well, pretty easy to setup a bypass.

mp3 player is over kill for a gps..
who doesnt have a stereo in their car already..

Most of them with MP3 can't play music and do Nav functions at the same time either. It'* another selling point, or feature they can charge for..

Mine will play MP3'* at the same time as NAV. Overkill having MP3? Maybe. But not overkill for $160.

I can pipe the MP3 to my external input on my HU if I want. Only done it a couple times for fairly long drives.

Battery life I have no clue. It uses the same charger as my RAZR. I just leave it plugged in. It'* in the car with a constant source of power anyway.

I couldn't care less about MP3. Now if it had an FM transmitter for the MP3, that would be cool.

my friend does the geocaching thing. He belongs to a online club and goes in search of hidden stuff. He really enjoys it. I think he paid like $500 or so for his.
