4th gear shaft..This spline area should all be the same the whole way. The part that is worn..is worn bad. These are almost enough to cause no 4th gear.

I'm sorry I missed the boat on this one.
What you've done for me was more subtle, and I don't think I've told you how much I appreciate it. Through the horrors of going from a V8 Bonneville to a V8 Chevy pickup to a 4-banger Neon, you've been there to get me to laugh at the oh-so-dismal prospect of being stuck in an underpowered car roughly the size of a lima bean.
You even managed to throw in some helpful advice while laughing!
So again, congrats, and you earned it!
