Exactly why I use it. I'm not always available to answer phone calls right away, but people can text me all they want. I can answer when I get a spare minute instead of putting them on hold all the time.

Holy crap. That'* nuts. I'm not a texter. Hate the stuff. The thought of having to press the "7" key four times for an "*" is ridculous to me. I'd rather call the person.

I've actually had texting dsabled on our plan because we were getting a lot of spam texts. It was costing $.15 per text to even receive them. Heck with that.

Yeah I have a full keyboard on my phone. The only time I really used it alot was when I had "girl" friends then my wife came around and I use by 60-80 a month now.

By the way Spamming on a private cell phone is illegal.

Oh yeah? I'm 19 and I don't get the whole text messaging thing. It'* a freaking phone, you use it to talk to people (Talking? On a phone? What an alien concept ) I see about 5 people at the beginning of each class on a texting frenzy every day. I don't get it, you'd save a lot of time by calling, and you should be paying attention to class anyways

I only text people when people text me, since a lot of people love to, and a lot of times I just call them back and fore go the whole text thing.

with texting you can have multiple conversations with people at the same time.
you can get stuff done while texting that you could never do while on the phone.
you can message people in complete silence, which is necessary almost anywhere indoors: school, movie theater, work, meetings, or if don't want the surrounding people to know what you are saying.
