Okay...I wish to revote. On my laptop with stock crappy speakers, I got up to 14..... came to work today with stock crappy external speakers on my workstation... I hit 22.
AND I could hear the two examples of the ring tone as well... so HA! See...I'm not as old as I thought...Okay...maybe I am but my hearing is not...

why did you retest? You probably imagined you heard it twice...lol
My dad is 65 and was in the Air Force and worked as an electrition on bombers WITH the engines running. Needless to say he couldn't hear even 8000.
I couldn't hear more than 16000 and am 22.

I think this is a crappy thing, because its will depend 110% on the speakers that peaple are using. I would be willing to bet that what a lot of people hear as their "highest" is actually the highest that their speakers can handle before it becomes inaudible.
