it should test the ability to process new information and use it to solve a problem.
Would that not be intuition, something that would most definitely show on any test?

Intelligence has nothing to do with seeking out knowledge. In my opinion, a simple math test is more appropriate as an intelligence test than the ACT is. From what I'm getting from your reply, you're saying that if one knows more about pop culture than someone else, we can assume that the first person is more intellegent?

Actually, intuition is the ability to comprehend a situation correctly while missing vital information. Basically, it'* the ability to fill in the blanks. It would be one facet of intelligence, but one that is impossible to measure, because we have no idea how it works.
