The intermediate steering shaft has crapped out on us twice and now it'* making noise (that'* a clue it'* going to crap out again) and all of this is in a period of one year (starting from the first replacement). So it'* probably a lemon so we want to invoke the lemon law. Do we need a lawyer, do we just walk in the dealer and say "The Tahoe is a lemon" or what? help us guys (and no my mom won't get a L67 car, I tried.)

but lemon laws very from state to state. if its new then you have to have it replaced 3 times i believe. but if its from a private seller you have 30 day... (i think)
It will be a court thing if the dealer fights it.
Look up your states lemon law and it will list the minimum requirements you need to be covered under it. You'll need good record keeping to prove that the dealer has made several attempts to repair the same problem, the vehicle has had numerous problems within a certain mileage/timeframe, or they've had the vehicle for more than(typically) a month w/o being able to repair it. (Always take your car for a testdrive to make sure its been fixed before signing off on it. Have spae keys in your pocket as some place won't let you do this.)

Maybe the dealer hasn't corrected the issue, just the symptom. Has all this been done thru one dealer? Maybe a different dealer will look at it and say " yea, the shaft is going, but it'* because of XXXX". Just my 0.02
