Default Stupid College!

So this year my pell-grants got cut so i didn't get enough to pay for college, so i had to take a loan out through the college. I didn't get all the papers filled out before my tuition had to be paid so my mom put it on here credit card. $1600 for tuition, and I paid $700 out of my pocket (all the money i had) for books. I filed all the papers for a $4000 loan for this semester, and next semester.
They said i would be getting a refund check the 3rd week in september, so i could pay off my moms credit card.
Well its the 4th week in sept and still no check. I called up the financial aid dept, and asked them when i would be receiving the check, they said they sent them out already. I didn't get one, whys that? She looks up my name and says i wasn't supposed to get a refund check?!?

They lost all my loan information, and now i have to wait another month to get the money. My moms credit card is maxed out because of the college tuition, and she can't pay it off, and i am completely broke, and all my payments are going to be late, because the college lost the papers!

College was a poor experience for me. The faculty and everyone who they do business with are useless individuals who MUST be replaced with individuals who actually care for the success for students.

Too many times I got the "I'm just doing my job" response. Do us all a favor and quit your job because your doing ONLY your job.

My college is holding my ex-gf'* funds for some arbitrary reason. Financial aid department is a bitch to deal with, though the faculty at my university has been pretty caring and understanding in my experience.

Financial aid is so often a problem for people. Sophomore year, my brother was a senior, we had filled out and mailed our applications the same way/time. He got his when he should have. I was left waiting for a couple more weeks before I went in and inquired. They had me come back to a private office because my info looked "inconsistent". After twenty minutes of anwering questions, I told the lady, "Look, my older brother already has his loans and grants, and all our info is essentially the same." Her response, "Oh, then that should take care of it, I'll make sure you get your refund check within the week."

Don't they look at siblings info to compare parents' financial info?

And after that same year, they figured out that they gave me more loan than I should have been qualified for. I got a letter explaining that I owed $2000. I called them and they said since they screwed up, I fell into some catagory to get a grant to make up the difference. So I had $2000 less in loans to pay off then if they didn't see it.

Just went over to the college to try and correct the situation.
So since i "waited so long" to fill out my loan application, i can't get as much now. Instead of taking out a $4000 loan, I was only able to take out a $2400 loan. Needless to say i was pretty pissed, so i talked to the Head of financial aide (instead of his secretary whom i had been dealing with) and he squeezed out an extra $1000 by saying i live in the city limits (i'm less than a block out of the city limits)
So now i'm getting a $3400 loan. Which should be enough to cover my tuition but not my books. But whatever at least i got it dealt with.

oh man, financial aid is the biggest PITA ever, i applied for a loan and waited about 4 weeks, and then i get a phone call saying that i had to add like 2 more references and i had to fill out some more forms, and this wasnt even for the government loans, that was even more paper work and then i lost my grant for that too, man was i ever pissed, but now its all settled and all the loans are in thank god.

i feel your pain

im just glad theres something in place to allow people who cant really afford it at the time to invest in their future.

if i have to jump through the hoops set in place by red tape and bureaucracy to get money that allows me to better myself and invest in my future, ill jump through those hoops and more.
